Toronto City Church was started in 1988 by Pastor’s Paul and Elaine Yuke. Pastors Paul and Elaine moved to Toronto from Halifax, NS with a vision to raise up a church that was founded on prayer, focused on worship, reaching the next generation and small groups, and had a heart for all nations. Originally called Covenant Christian Church, TCC began with a special service at the Armenian Banquet Centre with 17 people in attendance.
Over the years TCC experienced steady growth and in 1994 purchased it’s first building at 455 Huron Street in downtown Toronto. The next 10 years were filled with many testimonies of lives being impacted and transformed as TCC continued to advance and grow.
2004 brought a new chapter to Toronto City Church as the Huron Street property had become too small, so it was sold and TCC moved back into rented facilities.
In 2006 4.5 acres of land was purchased at 36 Curity Avenue and a new building project was begun. The intent was to build a facility that would be a blessing to the church, but also to the community around it.
In 2007 Pastor’s Paul and Elaine passed the leadership of TCC to their son and daughter-in-law Steve and Katherine Yuke and moved into a new season of ministry. Pastors Steve and Katherine diligently led TCC forward.
In 2009 a mulit-purpose sports dome designed the serve and reach the community was completed. In 2012, a 20,000 square foot worship centre housing a sanctuary, offices and classrooms was completed. On August 24-26, 2012 the new worship centre was formally dedicated as the TCC Family celebrated the goodness and faithfulness of God.
2013 brought another exciting new chapter to TCC as Pastors Steve and Katherine passed the leadership of the church to Pastors Brendan and Sharon Witton. Pastors Brendan and Sharon pastored another church in the city, Church Without Limits, and they brought CWL together with TCC to become one church family.
Church Without Limits, was started by Pastor Brendan in November 2000 as a youth Bible study in the back of a motorcycle shop. It grew rapidly in the first few years and experienced a significant move of God. Reaching mostly young people, CWL met on Saturday nights and often the youth would be there worshipping and praying until after midnight. Over the years this group of passionate young adults grew up together and the church moved through several different seasons and locations until 2013 when CWL came together with TCC.
Today "Toronto City Church: A Church Without Limits" is a multi-cultural, multi-generational, growing church family committed to loving our city, our nation and the nations of the world. We are thankful for our rich heritage of faith and we are excited about where God is taking us in the years to come.
